Gallery: Rugby players scrub up for POTY awards with van der Flier and Monaghan the big winners

It was the night where Ireland’s rugby players get to swap the gear for the suits and dresses as the Rugby Player Ireland awards were held.

Josh van der Flier scooped the men’s top prize, beating off Caelan Doris, Hugo Keenan and Mack Hansen.

JVDF was also nominated this week for the EPCR European Player of the Year gong.

And Sam Monaghan scooped the top women’s prize after a breakthrough Six Nations jaunt.

The Wasps lock beat Linda Djougang and Eve Higgins to the prize, with Higgins ultimately landing the Young POTY award.
