Futures of Chelsea trio remain uncertain as Tino Livramento’s pre-season absence is explained

football.london understands Chelsea academy stars Tino Livramento, Lewis Bate and Myles Peart-Harris all trained with the club’s Under-16s yesterday as the impasse over their respective contract renewals continues.

The Blues have offered the trio – whose current deals expire next summer – fresh terms but none agreed to sign, with interest mounting in their services at home and abroad.

There was an expectation that Livramento and Bate, in particular, would be involved with the makeshift first-team squad that began pre-season training at the start of the week.

However, after having Monday off, that duo alongside Peart-Harris ended up training with the club’s Under-16s yesterday as the development squad and Under-18s were Scotland for pre-season friendlies against Celtic.

Livramento is highly thought of by Chelsea’s academy staff and he trained with the first-team squad sporadically during the second half of last season.

He did enough in those sessions under the watch of Thomas Tuchel to be named on the substitutes’ bench for Premier League games against Manchester City and Arsenal in May.

The 18-year-old’s impressive and rapid development last term has caught the attention of several clubs across Europe, with RB Leipzig, AC Milan, and several Premier League clubs all linked with a move for Livramento, who can play as a full-back, wing-back, or winger on either side of the pitch.

If Livramento doesn’t sign a new deal with Chelsea, he will be free from January to agree a pre-contract with clubs abroad, who could secure his services for less than £500,000 in compensation.

There is also growing interest in Bate from sides in the Premier League. The midfielder captained the Under-18s in the FA Youth Cup last term and was also handed the armband on occasion when featuring for the development squad despite only turning 18 years old last October.

He was involved with the first-team squad last year, travelling to Bramall Lane in July for a Premier League game that ended in a victory for Sheffield United.

Peart-Harris, who joined Chelsea aged eight, hasn’t had as much first-team exposure as Livramento and Bate but he enjoyed a strong 2020/21 campaign for the Under-18s and development squad.

He made 21 appearances across the two age groups and ended the season with eleven goals despite playing across the frontline.
