– The internet went into a frenzy after the thriller involving Brighton and Manchester United
– Bruno Fernandes scored at the last minute to give the Red Devils their first win of the season
– The win was met with mixed reactions online, with some fans branding United an extremely lucky side
The internet went into meltdown on Saturday, September 26 after the dramatic early kick off Premier League game involving Brighton and Hive Albion and Manchester United.
United, who are still yet to find their footing in the league this season, won the game in dramatic fashion at the very end of the game-or beyond the end of the game depending on which club you support.

A rather lackluster performance from the Red Devils saw many fans consider the team extremely lucky to have come away with all three points against a Brighton side which scored two and struck the post five times in the game.
One of the biggest points of criticism from rival fans has been United’s tendency to get penalties after review from the Video Assisted Referee (VAR).
The fact that Solskjaer’s men snatched a win with a little intervention from the VAR after the final whistle had been blown by referee Chris Kavanagh typically led to explosive reactions online.
Being an early kickoff, the game was trending for a large part of Saturday, and TUKO.co.ke highlights the most common points of discussion on social media.
1. Ole Out
This trend ringed hard and was most likely ignited by irate United fans who seem to be running out of patience after witnessing their team’s last three games this season.
2. Fergie
Former United boss Alex Ferguson’s name ran on social media after the gave, presumably because of the nature of Man United’s win.
During the Fergie era, the game was not over until the final whistle and United developed a tendency to get some pretty late goals. The result against Brighton was reminiscent of those times to some fans.
3. Bruno Fernandes
The Man United playmaker was typically a trending topic because of the manner in which the game ended, among other reasons.
Fernandes has scored in his last 18 penalties, including the winner against Brighton and this led to mixed reactions from rival fans.
Some cheeky fans joked the Portugal midfielder was the penalty god because he somehow managed to get a penalty “after the final whistle”.
4. Mourinho
Trust the internet to bring in United’s former boss whenever there is a slice of controversy in their game.
Mourinho’s name was dragged in primarily because of Solskjaer’s sentiments after the game where the United gaffer made a reference to Mourinho’s recent appeal against goal posts size in Tottenham’s Europa League clash in Macedonia on Thursday, September 24.
“We got away with one. Maybe one point we deserved, we didn’t deserve more. But the character deserved more. Last season we had too many draws, so that is a big plus for us. You have to be happy Jose is not here to measure the goal posts,” Solskjaer said after the game.
