Fremantle star Andrew Brayshaw has earned his maiden All-Australian blazer but was squeezed out of the midfield, while West Coast defender Tom Barrass was snubbed by selectors.

Despite being judged by his peers as the AFLPA’s Most Valuable Player earlier on Wednesday night, Brayshaw was named on the interchange bench.

The 22-year-old was the only representative from Fremantle, with Brennan Cox missing out on selection in the final side.

Barrass was the only Eagle to be named in the extended squad but was overlooked for the final 22, with his position at full back filled by Melbourne’s Steven May.

Greater Western Sydney’s Sam Taylor, who hails from Swan Districts in the WAFL, earned his maiden All-Australian blazer at centre half back.

Geelong’s Tom Stewart and Collingwood’s Brayden Maynard were named in the back pockets, while St Kilda’s Jack Sinclair and Carlton’s Adam Saad were named on the half back flanks.

Gold Coast’s Touk Miller and Sydney’s Callum Mills were named on the wing, while Melbourne’s Clayton Oliver was named in the centre.

Demons big man Max Gawn earned his fifth All-Australian nod, with Carlton’s Patrick Cripps and Brisbane’s Lachie Neale named as ruck rovers.

In a bizarre selection, Coleman Medallist Charlie Curnow was named in the forward pocket alongside Geelong’s Tyson Stengle, while Cats’ spearhead Tom Hawkins was named at full forward.

Melbourne’s Christian Petracca and Richmond’s Shai Bolton, who was drafted out of South Fremantle, were named on the half forward flank, while Geelong’s Jeremy Cameron was named at centre half forward.

Alongside Brayshaw, Geelong ruckman Mark Blicavs, Sydney’s Issac Heeney and Port Adelaide’s Connor Rozee rounded out the interchange bench.

Hawkins was selected as captain, while Cripps is his vice-captain.
