‘Freedom of choice – can divert from EU!’ Francois lauds return of imperial scale

The MP for Rayleigh and Wickford hit back: “To be honest, I don’t think it’s about cats whether dead or alive, it’s about freedom of choice.”

He added: “So, the government will publish a public consultation, the essence of which will be ‘would people like to have the choice’, whether they’re a market trader or Sainsbury’s, to sell specifically in imperial measures.

“I don’t think anyone’s going to be compelled to do that if they don’t want to it’s about freedom of choice.

“There’s an important point of principle here which is that now we’ve left the EU, if we want to, if parliament decides to, we can divulge from all of these different directives and regulations that we inherited from the European Union.
