Tottenham announced their second signing of the summer, as Fraser Forster has become a Spurs player until 2024. This came just over a week after they announced that Ivan Perisic was making the move to N17.

Both players had come to the end of their contracts with their clubs, meaning neither has cost Tottenham a penny. This gives the club a boost and means they can use their £150million investment from ENIC on other signings they need.

Antonio Conte already made improvements both on and off the pitch, after his arrival last November and led the Lilywhites to a top four finish. There is now hope that Fabio Paratici will work to get the players the 52-year-old needs to help strengthen his squad, ahead of next season.

The signing of both players is a good start to strengthening the squad. Last week, Spurs announced that Pierluigi Gollini would return to Atalanta after his season long loan where he made just 10 appearances.

This left Hugo Lloris without a strong contender as a backup keeper, which is where Forster comes in. The 34-year-old has a wealth of experience, making over 100 Premier League appearances and winning four Scottish Premiership titles in his 168 league appearances for Celtic.

The former Southampton shot stopper will provide Conte an experienced option, if Lloris is unavailable and Forster has explained his excitement to get started, in his first words as a Tottenham player. “Hi everyone, absolutely delighted to sign, can’t wait for next season. See you soon,” the goalkeeper said in a video on Spurs’ official Twitter page.

Forster will join the rest of the squad for what is expected to be a tough pre-season ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
