Franklin Township: Girl Scout Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards Council Meeting Highlight

SOMERSET, NJ – Local Girl Scout Troop members were recognized by the Franklin Township Council for their accomplishments.

“It’s Girl Scout Week,” Franklin Mayor Phil Kramer proclaimed during Tuesday night’s meeting the meeting… “We have several Girl Scouts getting awards.” 

Troop 63202 members Danielle C, Annabelle L, Emma A, Charlotte M, Mila V, Kamylle K, Maren W, Layla V, Gabriella S, Chloe L, Alyanna B each earned Bronze Awards. Troop 60675 members  Isabel U, Kayah S, Molly A and Pavithra S, Isla H, Mckayla P, Padmini S, Sadie G and Saniya B were awarded the Bronze Award as well. 

The Bronze Award is the highest a Junior Girl Scout can earn; and represents accomplishments made by a scout that have an impact on her community. 

Kramer invited members from both Troops to describe how their projects influenced positive behavior. 

Shanon S and Stasha H earned the Silver Award, the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn and the second-highest award in Girl Scouting. 

Molly H, of Troop 60607, earned a Gold Award, the highest honor in Girl Scouting. Molly created a Hiking Guide for girls by girls in an effort to encourage more girls to seek outside activities in nature.

“Gold Award is the highest award a girl scout can earn,” Kramer said. “Again, I hate to have to say it this way, but it’s as high as an Eagle Scout. I wish it was known better so that we could say that being an Eagle Scout is as good as getting the Gold Award.”

WHEREAS, the GOLD AWARD is the highest honor in Girl Scouting; and WHEREAS, the Gold Award fosters and nurtures leadership qualities and encourages a Girl Scout to inspire her community through hard work and dedication; and WHEREAS, Molly H, Troop 60607, has earned the Gold Award by creating a Hiking Guide for Girls by Girls to assist in getting more girls outside and active in nature; and WHEREAS, Molly has also earned the Bronze Award when she was a Junior Girl Scout and the Silver Award when she was a Cadette Girl Scout; and WHEREAS, Molly has made a huge impact on her community by being diligent and conscientious as she completed her 80 hours of work on her project; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, I, Phillip Kramer, Mayor of the Township of Franklin, on behalf of the Township Council and the residents of the Township of Franklin, do hereby commend Molly H for the honor she has bestowed upon her community, Girl Scout Troop 60607, family and friends as a recipient of the Girl Scout Gold Award.

 

Silver Award Proclamation

WHEREAS, Shanon S and Stasha H have received the Girl Scout Silver Award which is the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn and the second highest award in Girl Scouting; and WHEREAS, since 1916, Girl Scout leadership awards have stood for excellence and leadership for girls everywhere, with girls who pursue these awards aspiring to transform an idea and vision for change into an actionable plan with far-reaching results; and WHEREAS, to qualify for the Girl Scout Silver Award, a girl must be a registered Girl Scout Cadette in the sixth, seventh or eighth grade, have completed a journey, conceptualized, planned and executed a sustainable project either independently or with a team; and WHEREAS, Shanon and Stasha have successfully completed all requirements including their special project, which was creating a letterboxing activity for a local Girl Scout camp, to receive their Girl Scout Silver Award; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, I, Phillip Kramer, Mayor of the Township of Franklin, on behalf of the Township Council and the residents of the Township of Franklin, congratulate Shanon and Stasha on their achievement in receiving the Girl Scout Silver Award.

Bronze Award Proclamations

WHEREAS, Danielle C, Annabelle L, Emma A, Charlotte M, Mila V, Kamylle K, Maren W, Layla V, Gabriella S, Chloe L, Alyanna B have earned the Girl Scouts Bronze Award, the highest award that a Junior Girl Scout can earn; and is a representation of the accomplishment that a scout has earned within her community as she grows and works to improve life and the lives of others; and WHEREAS, these young ladies have received this award for their project organizing a community donation drive for supplies for the Franklin Township Animal Shelter and created an animal-care booklet which they provided to share with new pet owners; and WHEREAS, these young ladies are to be commended on this achievement, as their passion has created a high standard of commitment and dedication to the Scouts and to the Franklin community; and WHEREAS, these young ladies are an example of the youth of our area, their leadership, organizational skills, sense of community has set the foundation for many to follow as they continue to serve as an inspiration to all students and peers; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, I, Phillip Kramer, Mayor of the Township of Franklin, on behalf of the Township Council congratulate the Girl Scouts of Troop 63202 on their Bronze Award.

WHEREAS, Isabel U, Kayah S, Molly A and Pavithra S have earned the Girl Scouts Bronze Award, the highest award that a Junior Girl Scout can earn; and is a representation of the accomplishment that a scout has earned within her community as she grows and works to improve life and the lives of others; and WHEREAS, these young ladies have received this award for their project, “Save the Bee!”, educating the community about the importance of bees and pollinators, how to increase their population and created a pollinator garden at a local church; and WHEREAS, these young ladies are to be commended on this achievement, as their passion has created a high standard of commitment and dedication to the Scouts and to the Franklin community; and WHEREAS, these young ladies are an example of the youth of our area, their leadership, organizational skills, sense of community has set the foundation for many to follow as they continue to serve as an inspiration to all students and peers; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, I, Phillip Kramer, Mayor of the Township of Franklin, on behalf of the Township Council congratulate the Girl Scouts of Troop 60675 on their Bronze Award.
