Former U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron has been appointed as the country’s foreign secretary, as Prime Minister Rishi Sunak carries out an extensive shuffle of his cabinet.

Cameron resigned as prime minister in 2016 after a referendum vote to leave the European Union, which he campaigned against, was successful. He has not held public office since. Government ministers do not need to be elected to office to hold the position, but typically sit as an MP or in the U.K.‘s House of Lords.

Among the casualties of Sunak’s cabinet overhaul was former Home Secretary Suella Braverman, who came under fire this week for penning an op-ed criticizing the policing of pro-Palestinian protests, against the wishes of the prime minister’s office.
