A not-guilty plea was entered Friday on behalf of a former Richmond County Sheriff jailer accused of bringing an inmate drugs and a cell phone.

A Richmond County grand jury indicted Juan H. Scott, 22, on charges of violation of oath by public officer, crossing the guard line with contraband and crossing the guard line with unauthorized items. The indictment alleges Scott brought into the jail a cell phone, marijuana and synthetic marijuana between Sept. 14 and Nov. 24.

Scott was hired in September 2020 and fired Nov. 25. He is free on bond.
