Former Penguins goalie Matt Murray is accused of cheating after being accused of knocking the net he was goaltending off of its moorings several times.

After a 4-3 loss to Murray’s Toronto Maple Leafs, Minnesota Wild head coach Dean Evason told reporters he believed Murray was doing it intentionally.

“100 percent,” said Evason. “You can’t knock the net off three times and not get anything out of it.”

Evason said that the net being knocked off by Murray is a frequent trend.

It appears that in a least one of the videos, Murray uses his shoulder to intentionally knock the net off, thus ending any scoring chance the Wild may have had.

Knocking the net off of its moorings can be a penalty or penalty shot.

Murray said he didn’t know what the issue was and that he frequently uses the net to “push off.”

Former NHL goalie Mike McKenna game to the two-time Stanley Cup champion’s defense on Twitter, saying the net was not properly inserted into the hole correctly.

Murray is 4-0-1 since returning from injury. He played well against his former team on November 15 beating the Pens 5-2, posting a .946 save percentage.
