Ford pickups crash into each other, killing 4 in Lenawee County

LENAWEE COUNTY, MI – Four men died Monday afternoon when one pickup crashed into another in a Lenawee County intersection.

Rescue crews were called at about 10:30 a.m. on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 4, to Milwaukee Road near Britton Highway in Macon Township for a reported two-vehicle crash reported by one of the vehicle’s on-board accident notification systems, according to Michigan State Police.

The preliminary investigation showed a white Ford F-150 was going south on Britton Highway when it was struck by a gray Ford F-250 going east on Milwaukee Road, police said.

The driver of the F-150 along with two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene while a third passenger was taken to ProMedica Hickman Hospital in Adrian where he was also pronounced dead, police said.

The deceased, all Lenawee County men, were ages 35, 33, 23 and 18, police said.

The at-fault driver of the F-250, a 55-year-old Lenawee County man, was taken to Trinity Health St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor to be treated for life-threatening injuries, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.

Investigators are asking anyone who has additional information about this incident to contact Trooper Tyler Gillig at 734-242-3500.

The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office, Ridgeway Fire Department, Raisin Township Fire Department, Lenawee Community Ambulance and the Lenawee County Medical Examiner’s Office assisted at the scene.
