In July it was confirmed that Ford had issued more recalls in the U.S. through the first half of the year than any other carmaker. Now, Ford has issued three new campaigns with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on August 25.

The first of the recalls is a small one, impacting just 10 examples of the 2023 Ford Explorer that were built from July 25, 2023, to August 3, 2023. Ford has revealed that impacted vehicles with the available 2.3-liter GTDI engine may have a torn or cut turbocharger oil supply line o-ring.

Vehicles with a turn or cut o-ring could leak oil that may contact with hot engine surfaces, increasing the risk of an injury. If enough oil leaks, the engine could seize. Owners of impacted vehicles will be notified from September 11 and dealers will quickly replace the turbo oil supply line.

The second recall impacts a total of 8,523 Ford Edge models from the 2023 MY built between April 17, 2023, and May 29, 2023. These models have a front right headlight that may exceed the maximum allowable linearity and/or photometric intensity requirements of U.S. safety standards. In layman’s terms, this means the headlight could create too much glare for other motorists.

Owners of 2023MY Ford Edge models embroiled in this recall will be notified on October 9 and dealers will replace the right headlight if it is found to be faulty.

The last of the three recalls is the most significant. It impacts 169,277 vehicles in the United States. These consist of 2020-2023MY Lincoln Navigator models built from October 19, 2019, to August 17, 2023, 2018-2021MY Lincoln Navigator models made from March 16, 2017, to December 23, 2021, 2022-2023MY Transit models made from February 26, 2021, and August 17, 2023, and ends with 2021MY Broncos built from September 23, 2020, to December 22, 2021.

Ford has revealed that owners of these vehicles may notice the infotainment screen flashing blue or display either a blue or black image when in reverse. The problem can be caused by camera hardware issues, a wiring retention fault, or problems with the Image Processing Module – B software.

Owners will be alerted to the recall from October 2 and dealerships will be instructed to replace the rearview camera once parts become available.
