NRL stars are under investigation for allegedly ignoring Sydney’s lockdown rules and going to a house party hosted by Paul Vaughan.

The St George Illawarra Dragons confirmed that a number of players were involved in a biosecurity breach at about 9.40pm on Saturday.

Under current regulations, players are required to stay at home unless they are playing, training or ‘completing an essential household task’ under strict rules to quash Sydney’s Covid-19 outbreak.

Like all Sydneysiders, footballers and officials are banned from inviting others to their homes.

Police and the NRL Integrity Unit are investigating the incident, which could carry hefty consequences – including suspension.

‘St George Illawarra are aware of a New South Wales state government stay-at-home order and NRL biosecurity breach involving a number of players,’ the club said in a statement read.

‘The Dragons will not make comment at this time, while the investigation into the matter with the NRL Integrity Unit and NSW Police continues.’

Sports reporter Danny Weilder told the Sunday Footy Show that the players were caught out due to a noise complaint.

‘If this is true, this is a huge issue,’ former Cronulla captain Paul Gallen said.

‘They will be punished severely. I can see something severe happening here. Big, big fines and time out of the game. This is going to be huge.’

A police spokeswoman confirmed the situation in a statement to Daily Mail Australia.

‘Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District attended a Shellharbour home, following reports of visitors at the home,’ she said.

‘Police spoke to the residents, a 30-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman.

‘Four men, aged 21, 24, 25 and 29, were also spoken to and it was determined they were not residents. They were all given directions to leave and return to their homes.’
