Football: Lockwood throws four touchdowns to lead Mount Olive over Morris Knolls

While there are risks to be considered, football leaders around the state remain confident there will be a fall season.

Gavin Lockwood threw for 374 yards and four TDs to lead Mount Olive to a 51-21 win over Morris Knolls in Denville.

Lockwood tallied an additional five carries on 9 yards, Justin Schmidt recorded nine carries on 103 yards and AJ McKay had two reception TDs for a total of 206 yards in the win for Mount Olive (2-0).

Dan Barra opened scoring for Mount Olive with a 34-yard field goal in the first quarter.

McKay followed up in the second with a 74-yard passing TD to set momentum. Schmidt recorded an 80-yard rushing TD and Hunter Perez brought in an 18-yard passing TD.

Schmidt set Mount Olive’s lead to 31-14 with a 4-yard rushing TD before the half.

Anthony Moscatello opened the second half with an 85-yard passing TD. McKay recorded a 23-yard passing TD in the fourth quarter and Casey Batsch sealed the win with a 93-yard kickoff return TD.
