Food stamps will be issued to eligible residents in Kentucky between Feb. 1 and Feb. 19. SNAP will start to go out for February on Thursday. Payments are sent to recipients on odd days based on the last digits of their case numbers.

Kentuckians residents must meet certain income and household requirements to qualify for SNAP. A household of one can receive a maximum of $291, a household of five can receive a maximum of $1,155, and a household of eight can receive up to $1,751. Households with more than eight people can receive up to $219 for each additional person.

Benefits are issued on a SNAP EBT card every month, and the card is used like a debit card to purchase meat, poultry, and fish products, dairy items, breads and cereals, and other eligible groceries. Products such as pet food, alcohol, and household items such as paper and soap can not be purchased using SNAP benefits.
