Erling Haaland also netted a treble, his third successive hat-trick in the top-flight at the Etihad, as Pep Guardiola’s side moved back to within one point of table toppers Arsenal.

Foden, who became our youngest Manchester Derby scorer since September 2016, was delighted after the victory.

“It’s a dream come true, playing in the Manchester Derby being a City fan.

“Me and Erling [Haaland] are finding the connection now. It’s a pleasure.”

The 22-year-old netted either side of Haaland’s quick double to have City 4-0 up at the interval.

Antony grabbed a goal back for the visitors before Haaland and Foden completed their trebles.

Anthony Martial scored a late brace but Foden believes it was City’s hunger, desire and clinical touch that proved to be the difference.

“I feel like we clicked,” he admitted. “Our determination from kick off was right at it and we finished our chances.

“I think we get one match ball each!”
