Florence Pugh Pokes Fun at Olivia Wilde Drama With Halloween Costume

Halloween #Halloween

Florence Pugh made light of her Don’t Worry Darling drama this Halloween.

The actress, who starred in the film directed by Olivia Wilde, shared photos celebrating the holiday on Tuesday. While she was dressed as Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians, her friend wore Pugh’s now-infamous purple press tour look.

Don’t Worry Darling has been plagued by rumors of behind-the-scenes tension, including speculation of a falling out between Pugh, 26, and Wilde, 38.

Initially, there were reports that Pugh didn’t support Wilde’s relationship with co-star Harry Styles. Eagle-eyed fans also noticed Pugh didn’t seem to be promoting the film on her social media accounts.

In August, Wilde said in an interview with Variety that she fired Shia LaBeouf from his role in the movie, despite being an “admirer of his work.” While she claimed the Transformers alum, 36, had a “combative energy,” LaBeouf denied the allegations to the same outlet. He also shared a video of Wilde allegedly asking him to return to the production.

“I think this might be a bit of a wake-up call for Miss Flo,” Wilde appears to say in the clip, hinting at a possible feud.

Later, Pugh skipped out on the movie’s press conference at the Venice International Film Festival, though Variety reported at the time that it was because she was filming Dune: Part Two in Budapest, Hungary.

“Florence is a force, and we are so grateful that she’s able to make it tonight despite being in production on Dune,” Wilde confirmed during the presser at the festival, revealing Pugh would still appear at the film’s premiere later that evening. “I know, as a director, how disruptive it is to lose an actor even for a day, so I’m very grateful to her, to [Dune director] Denis Villeneuve for helping us. And we’re really thrilled we’ll get to celebrate her work tonight. I can’t say enough how honored I am to have her as our lead. She’s amazing in the film.”

Following her late arrival, however, a video of the England native enjoying a cocktail and avoiding the drama went viral. In the clip, Pugh wore a Valentino crop top and matching shirt and shorts while holding an Aperol Spritz.

For Halloween, Pugh’s pal Theo Smith rocked her look from the video.

“Florence Pugh as ‘Cruella’ with her bestfriend Theo as ‘Miss Flo’ for Halloween,” fan account Florence Pugh Daily—which boasts more than 108,000 followers on the platform—tweeted on November 1. The post has since garnered nearly 60,000 likes.

“Red lips, s*** wigs, dogs both human and real, Aperol, Timberlake and sweaty upper lips,” Pugh captioned the slew of photos on Instagram. “Loved that Halloween.”

“Not him wearing your iconic Venice look,” one person commented, which racked up 260 likes at the time of publication.

“The Venice Film Festival costume won,” another said, while someone else said in all capital letters: “HE DRESSED UP AS YOU I’M SCREAMING LOVE THAT!!”

Meanwhile, Justin Timberlake got in on the commenting too, and simply added a laughing emoji.

Don’t Worry Darling will be available to stream on HBO Max beginning November 7.
