Flooding affects Greenwood water supply

Flooding in Greenwood has affected the water supply in the city in southern Sebastian County.

The City of Greenwood reported that effective immediately Friday, water conservation measures were being taken.

Failures with pumps were reported. The flooding “affected the city’s water supply, raw water pumps,” the city posted on Facebook.

All lawn and turf watering from city sources is prohibited.

Watering shrubs, plants, trees and gardens is permitted only by hand-held hoses, and should be limited to the minimum amount of time needed, the post reads.

Watering is permitted at locations with even-numbered addresses on even-numbered days of the month only. Odd-numbered addresses can have watering on odd-numbered calendar days.

Golf courses are permitted to use water only on greens and at tee boxes. But watering the fairways, roughs, and school athletic fiels is prohibited.

Washing vehicles, trailers or boats is also prohibited.

Washing building exteriors, sidewalks, walkways, driveways, patios, parking lots, tennis courts or other hard-surfaced areas by hose or other ways from city water is prohibited.

Water from fire hydrants for construction purposes is not allowed. Street work will also have to wait for any compacting of dirt.
