But Kate, a University student and lifestyle content creator, also shared the five things she wished she knew before she started selling her unused items on the app.

The brunette beauty explained that you’ll need to edit your postage options, and getting a hook in your room is key if you want to sell items quickly.

Posting on social media, Kate shared her top tips and tricks that have helped her to earn cash through Vinted.

She said: “Five Vinted tips that will make selling your clothes so much easier.”

She then explained: “These five things that I wish I knew before starting Vinted, that really, really, made my life easier.

“Number one is choose the postage service that is closest to where you live. I have one literally at the top of my street. I can see it from my room and student accommodation.

“So only choose ones that are close to you. Travelling all over the place makes life so, so difficult. 

“Number two is to have a hook on your wall that you can hang your clothes on to take pictures.

“Yes, clothes sell better if you wear the clothes. But not everyone has time or the facilities to take a picture of themselves. 

“So I put a hook on this wall. It’s nice and clean and it honestly makes taking pictures so easy. It’s a five minute job now. It used to take forever.”

Not only this, but she also explained why having a clean background is key, as she added: “But having a clean background is step number three. Having a clean background sells things so much quicker.

“People like to buy from someone who is clean and fresh and if you have a cluttered background, no one thinks that and it’s true. You’d rather buy from someone who has a nice neat background. That’s me anyway.”

As well as this, Kate explained that communication and quick postage is also very important, as she continued: “Number four is to reply quickly and post as quick as possible.

“People love kind of feeling like a priority and it really does kind of get things going.  So a lot of people will be like ‘when can you post’ and I’m like ‘I can post in the next hour for you’. But that is because my postage thing is so, so close.

“I think that that really, really will help.”

Finally, Kate revealed that you’ll need to consider whether something is worth your time before you post it on Vinted, as she concluded: “And number five is to not waste your time putting things on for a couple pounds here and there.

“People love a bargain, but it’s not as much of a bargain when they add postage.

“If you’re not gonna be making enough money to go to the effort of writing and posting, just don’t really bother, unless it’s something that you don’t mind.

“I had a lot of things that were quite rubbish. They weren’t great, or I was having to write a lot about the quality of it, and it just was wasting my time.

“But since, I’ve put on some really, really nice things that I just don’t wear anymore, and they’ve sold so quickly.

“In the last 24 hours, I think I’ve sold eight things. My Vinted balance is £72 and I am so ready to do more shopping.” 

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @kate.huc, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 500 likes. 

One person said: “I wish I knew the last couple of these before my first sale but these are useful.” 

Whilst another asked: “Do you have any posting tips? Like how to get the bags and print?” 

But if you fancy clearing out your wardrobe and getting rid of your old stuff on Vinted, there are some things you’ll need to consider. 

Customers selling their second-hand goods on the app should be aware of the new tax shake-up that recently came into play.

Since January 1, digital platforms, including eBay, Airbnb, Etsy, Amazon and Vinted, must share seller information with HMRC as part of a crackdown.

You’re unlikely to be affected if you only sell a handful of second-hand items online each year – you’ll only be affected if you sell a certain number of items or earn over a certain amount across one financial year.

Firms now have to pass on your data to HMRC if you sell 30 or more items a year or earn over £1,700.

It is part of a wider tax crackdown to help ensure that those who boost their income via side hustles pay up what they owe.

While your data won’t be shared with HMRC if you earn between £1,000 and £1,700, you’ll still need to pay tax as normal.
