Fitzgibbon Hospital gives notice of data security incident

Fitzgibbon Hospital has given notice of unauthorized access within their network, which was detected on June 6, 2022. According to the hospital, an investigation was launched with outside cybersecurity professionals who investigate and analyze these types of incidents regularly. Fitzgibbon discovered on Dec. 1, 2022, that some identifiable and protected health information may have been accessed and acquired. Information includes individuals’ full names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account numbers, health insurance information and medical information. The incident does not affect all Fitzgibbon Hospital patients.
Fitzgibbon Hospital is not aware of any improper use of information as a result of the incident at this time. Fitzgibbon notified impacted patients whose contact information was on file on or about Dec. 30, 2022. Patients whose Social Security numbers were impacted are being provided with complimentary credit monitoring services. The notification letter advised affected patients about the process for placing fraud alerts and security freezes on their credit files and how to obtain free credit reports. The affected recipients have also been provided with contact information for consumer reporting agencies and the Federal Trade Commission.

The response line is staffed with professionals familiar with the incident and is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
