First Alert Weather: Sunshine and above average temperatures Tuesday
Good Tuesday #GoodTuesday
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Good morning and happy Tuesday! You might need a light jacket this morning. Temperatures are starting out in the 40s and 50s. It’s pretty mild for this time of the year with temperatures slightly above average. First Alert AccuTrack Satellite and Radar is showing a mostly clear sky. High pressure remains in place, and it will keep us dry and sunny this afternoon. Temperatures will likely trend a few degrees warmer than yesterday with most of us in the upper 70s and lower 80s for highs. Winds will continue from the southwest at 5-10 mph with gusts up to 15 mph. It should be a beautiful day. Our average high temperature for November 7th is 68, so we will likely end up 10-12 degrees above average. If you have any evening plans, we will likely remain clear and dry with temperatures cooling off into the mid to upper 60s by 7 p.m. CST. Sunset this evening will occur at 4:50 p.m. CST.
Mostly Sunny Wednesday: The beautiful and warm weather will continue into tomorrow. We will likely start Wednesday out dry with temperatures in the low to mid 50s. We should see a mostly sunny sky tomorrow afternoon with highs in the lower 80s. Winds may end up a little breezy at times from the southwest at 10-15 mph. I recommend knocking out some yardwork over the next couple of days because rain chances will likely return by the end of the week.
Increasing Clouds Thursday: Our next cold front will slowly develop to our west by the end of the week. We will likely see cloud cover increase Thursday giving us a mostly cloudy sky. Temperatures will remain above average Thursday with morning temperatures in the upper 50s with highs near 80. Moisture and humidity levels will likely increase across the state Thursday, but I think we’ll remain mostly dry. We can’t rule out a 10% chance for isolated showers or sprinkles Thursday evening in parts of northwest Alabama.
Next Big Thing: The big story this week is the chance to see showers on Friday. The rain that falls on Friday will not end our drought, but any bit of rain will be helpful! We will likely start Friday morning cloudy with a few showers possible along and north of I-20/59. Temperatures will likely start out in the upper 50s and lower 60s. I think we will remain cloudy Friday as a cold front moves through the state. Temperatures should trend cooler with highs approaching the mid to upper 60s. Rainfall totals Friday will likely end up light with most of us picking up around a tenth of an inch.
Complicated Weekend Forecast: I wish I could give you a clear and easy answer for our forecast this weekend, but long-range weather models are disagreeing on the overall setup. There’s a chance the cold front that moves into Alabama will stall out and produce additional rounds of showers across Central Alabama Saturday into Sunday. Unfortunately, confidence for a wetter setup remains low. I do think this weekend will trend cloudy and cooler. We are looking at highs in the mid to upper 60s with overnight temperatures in the low to mid 50s. We will hold on to a 20% chance for isolated showers Saturday and Sunday. There’s still a chance it could trend wetter, and hopefully we will have a better handle on this weather setup over the next couple of days. Please stay up to date on the forecast by tuning in to our shows on WBRC Fox 6 News and through the First Alert Weather app for the latest details.
Tropical Update: The latest outlook from the National Hurricane Center shows a quiet Atlantic. We aren’t looking at any disturbances that have a chance to develop into a tropical depression or storm over the next five to seven days. Long-range models continue to show activity trying to develop in the Caribbean next week, but confidence on something forming remains very low. November is normally a quiet month that will average one or two named storms. Hurricane season officially ends on November 30th. Have a great Tuesday.
