First Alert Weather: Decreasing clouds Monday afternoon
Good Monday #GoodMonday
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Good morning and happy Monday!
We are starting out the day chilly with temperatures mostly in the upper 30s and lower 40s. When you factor in winds from the northwest at five to 10 mph, it could feel like it is in the mid-30s. I highly recommend grabbing a jacket before you step outside this morning.
Out The Door Forecast(WBRC)
First Alert AccuTrack Satellite and Radar is showing us dry, but we are dealing with some low-level clouds keeping us mostly cloudy this morning. I think we’ll see the clouds slowly decrease and give way to a partly cloudy sky this afternoon. Temperatures will likely trend a few degrees warmer than yesterday with highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Winds will continue today from the northwest at five to 10 mph.
If you have any evening plans, we will likely remain dry with a mostly clear sky. Temperatures are forecast to cool into the lower 40s by 8 p.m. With a mostly clear sky and light winds, temperatures will likely drop into the lower 30s Tuesday morning.
Light Freeze Expected Tuesday Morning: We will likely start tomorrow morning cold with temperatures in the lower 30s. A few spots in northeast Alabama could cool into the mid-to-upper 20s. I highly recommend keeping your pets inside this evening so they can stay warm.
Tomorrow Morning – Tues. 7AM(WBRC)
Some of our high-resolution models are hinting at the chance for patchy fog developing tomorrow morning. Any fog that develops will likely occur near bodies of water. Just slow down and turn on your low beams if visibility is reduced to a quarter-of-a-mile or less.
Tuesday will end up as a transition day as a weak cold front moves into the Southeast Tuesday night. I think we’ll end up partly cloudy Tuesday afternoon with high temperatures climbing into the upper 50s. It will not surprise me if parts of west Alabama see high temperatures in the lower 60s.
Future Radar – Tue. 8PM(WBRC)
The cold front that moves through our area tomorrow night won’t have a lot of moisture associated with it. There’s still a chance light showers could develop across north and central Alabama between 7 p.m. Tuesday into early Wednesday morning. The chance of rain is only at 20 to 30%. Only a few hundredths of an inch of rain are possible.
Mostly Sunny and Cooler Wednesday: We will likely start Wednesday morning partly cloudy with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 30s. Wednesday afternoon is looking mostly sunny and breezy with temperatures warming into the lower 50s. We will likely see northerly winds at 10 to 15 mph Wednesday afternoon.
I highly recommend bringing your pets inside Wednesday night as temperatures could drop near freezing Thursday morning.
Warming Up by the End of the Week: The good news about this week is that we’ll likely see a dry pattern with near-average temperatures. It’s a drastic change compared to the past two to three weeks. Thursday afternoon should remain dry with a partly cloudy sky. High temperatures are forecast to warm into the mid-50s. Friday will trend even warmer with morning lows in the mid-to-upper 30s and highs in the lower 60s. Temperatures may end up five to eight degrees above average as we start the month of February.
Weekend Forecast: If you are making any outdoor plans over the weekend, I would circle Saturday on the calendar for outdoor activities. We will likely start the weekend with dry conditions on Saturday. Morning lows are forecast to cool into the low-to-mid 40s with high temperatures climbing into the low-to-mid 60s. Saturday will likely end up partly to mostly cloudy. It should be a beautiful day to take care of the yard to go out for lunch or dinner.
Rain Chance Breakdown(WBRC)
The Next Big Thing we are tracking is the chance to see rain and breezy conditions Saturday night into Sunday. A strong storm will try to form in the Gulf of Mexico Sunday into Monday. It will produce cloudy conditions across central Alabama Sunday with scattered showers and a few storms possible. There’s a chance strong storms could develop with this system, but the threat will likely remain in south Alabama. Temperatures are forecast to trend cooler Sunday thanks to the cloud cover and higher rain chances. Highs are forecast to warm into the low-to-mid 50s. Rain chances may continue into Sunday night and for the first half of Monday.
