Fire crews battling blaze in Mill Hill Regional Park

Langford firefighters are battling a brush fire in Mill Hill Regional Park this evening.
The fire department is asking the public to avoid the area so that fire apparatus can access the park off Atkins Avenue. Access to the main and west beach of Thetis Lake Regional Park is also limited to allow space for helicopters, according to the Capital Regional District.

View Royal Fire is also helping tackle the blaze, which was discovered around 5 p.m. No structures are being threatened at this time, according to a tweet from the Langford department.
It’s unclear how the fire started but smoke can be seen across Langford, and water bombers and helicopters are dumping water and retardant on the area.
