Fire, cloud of chlorine gas in Greenwood forces evacuation: What you need to know

UPDATE: The evacuation order has been rescinded.

Just after 4:30 p.m. Friday, Caddo Parish Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Office issued an evacuation in Greenwood following a fire and hazmat leak.

Residents have been asked to evacuate until the cloud of chlorine released into the atmosphere from the Greenwood Waste Water Treatment Plant at the intersection of east and west Starwood Lane dissipates.

Caddo Fire District 3 has been working to extinguish the fire at the plant.

The State Police Hazmat crew was also notified. They are monitoring the situation and will provide updates.
