Here is what is happening in the Coastal Bend from Friday, June 16th through Sunday, June 18th.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It is finally Friday, and we have a weekend full of events coming up in the Coastal Bend. Click on the event name for more information.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday

You can catch Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Hans, Kristoff, and the whole gang at the Harbor Playhouse for Frozen Jr. The show features all the memorable songs from the animated film Frozen. The show runs through June 25. To buy tickets, click here.

Summer Surf Movie Nights on the Executive Surf Club patio! Every Sunday until July 30. Movies start at sundown. Summer Surf Movie Nights are free and are accompanied by complimentary popcorn!

Every Saturday, get some of the freshest goods found in the Coastal Bend. The Corpus Christi Southside Farmers’ Market takes place from 9:00 a.m. until noon. The event can be located at the Everhart Market Shopping Center. 

Friday through Sunday, Enjoy the Rockport Fulton Market Days. There will be plenty of local vendors available with a vibrant mix of artisans, crafters, boutiques and more you’re sure to find that one-of-a-kind treasure you’ve been looking for. From handcrafted jewelry, the latest fashions to unique home décor. Weekend festivities will run from 11 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

There will be several celebrations taking place across Corpus Christi in honor of Juneteenth. This includes the Corpus Christi Juneteenth Festival, Black and White Dance and Comedy Show, Juneteenth for the Crest and many more.

Saturday, June 17

Deaf Night OutA beach day is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 17. The event is for the deaf and hard of hearing. Attendees are asked to bring a canopy, sunscreen, and other necessary items. There will also be a Deaf Night Out before Deaf Beach Bash. Come down to DHHC’s Dinner and Bingo at 5:30 p.m. then go to Dave & Buster’s at 8:30 p.m. to hang out.

Dress up like your favorite video game character and learn to fight like your favorite video game hero. Saturday, June 17 at 409 Cedar Dr. in Portland. The event starts at 6:00 p.m.

Your child can get ready to celebrate their dad with a personalized Father’s Day Card. Friday and Saturday, Cards can be created by your child at the Ben F. McDonald Public Library. The event runs from 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Comedian Joe Gatto will be at the American Bank Center Selena Auditorium Saturday, June 16 as part of his Night of Comedy Tour. The show starts at 7:00 p.m. For tickets, click here.

Friday and Saturday, catch Comedian Ralph Barbosa at Mesquite Street Southside. Barbosa won the 2019 Funniest Comic in Texas competition. He also was the winner of the New York Latino Film Festival Stand Up Comedy competition, and recently made his HBO debut on the HA Festival Comedy Special. Tickets are available here.

Saturday at the House of Rock will be the Broadway Rave. The event is a musical theatre dance party like you’ve never experienced before! Get your tickets and come sing along to all of your Broadway favorites. Tickets can be purchased here.

Sunday, June 18

Enjoy a special live concert at the Del Mar College amphitheater this Sunday evening at 8 p.m. Bring your father, grandfather, uncle, father figure, and all other friends and family and join us for our free concert. DMC Heritage Campus at Baldwin and Ayers.

Upcoming Events

Celebrate 4th of July at the City of Corpus Christi Mayor’s 4th of July Big Bang Celebration! On Tuesday, July 4, the larger-than-life fireworks show will be set off from a barge located in the Corpus Christi Bay just north of People’s Street T-Head. Coast your way downtown and enjoy this spectacular show! The event starts at 9:30 at the Corpus Christi Bayfront.

Brush Country CASA will host its Sixth Annual Color The Way For CASA 5K on Saturday, Aug. 12 at 8 a.m. on the Texas A&M University – Kingsville campus. The event will feature an adult and children’s 5K, as well as a kids 1-mile race. Along with a colorful, fun and unique atmosphere, the race benefits a good cause, with all net proceeds going to Brush Country CASA, an non-profit organization which recruits, trains and supports community volunteers as they support children and families who are involved in the child welfare system. Participants can register early at from now until August 11th. The early registration fee will be $35 for adults and $15 for children, while on-site fees the day of the race will be  $40 and $20, respectively.
