FedEx Driver Shot in Birmingham

Birmingham police are investigating the shooting of a FedEx driver on I-59/20.

Police are on the scene of a shooting on Interstate 59/20 in downtown Birmingham.

Officer and Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service were dispatched at 10:45 a.m. Monday to the I-59/20 at Red Mountain Expressway near Carraway Boulevard on a report of a person shot. The location is in the southbound lanes.

The initial call indicated that a FedEx driver was shot in the leg, and BFRS confirmed that report. He was transported to UAB Hospital.

A FedEx driver was shot during a road rage incident Monday, Aug. 2, 2021, on Interstate 59/20 in Birmingham.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald said it appears the FedEx driver and another motorist got into some kind of road rage confrontation. The other driver pulled out a gun and fired, striking the FedEx driver.

Authorities are still searching for the shooter. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
