‘Fear is a powerful agent of destruction’: Alan Jones

Sky News host Alan Jones says there is much more fear than fact being presented by the media on the coronavirus situation in India and if we do not “gain some sanity” and “stick with the facts” then we are at risk of “destroying everything”. “We need to gain some sanity here before we destroy everything – and fear is a powerful agent of destruction,” he said. “We should throw the models out the window and stick with the facts.” Mr Jones also said that the number of coronavirus-related deaths in India in 14 months was equal to approximately seven days’ worth of the number of daily deaths from all causes. “If we accept in 14 months, 198,000 deaths in India; and if we accept that 27,000 people die in India from all causes every day, the coronavirus deaths over 14 months equals seven days of death,” he said. “If the public were told this, the figures don’t sound the same. This is not a Spanish Flu, perhaps in the range of a Hong Kong Flu. Lockdowns, as many world authorities have argued, are unsuitable for respiratory viruses. “There are 1.36 billion people in India, a terrible health system, 27,000 people die in India from all causes every day. “In 14 months, India have allegedly recorded 198,000 deaths from or with coronavirus, which is approximately seven days worth of annual deaths in India. “Why the media don’t tell us these figures, or government, I have no idea.”
