Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse Finally Coming West with Switch Remake
Fatal Frame #FatalFrame
Fatal Frame is once again back. Nintendo announced today with Koei Tecmo that it’s bringing Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse to the West on Nintendo Switch sometime early in 2023. The series has been on again and off again but is a cult favorite, and demand for this game releasing outside of Japan has been building since its release on the Wii in 2008.
The game looks to be updated a bit with better graphics, but we have few other official details about the release. The story follows a girl on a fictional island where she has to use her camera to capture ghosts, which follows the traditional gameplay of the Fatal Frame series. Nintendo co-owns this IP but has done little with it aside from the previous re-release of Fatal Frame: Maiden of the Black Water in 2021, so for fans of the series this announcement is huge, showing that the company actually is looking to advance the franchise even more. Whether that just means a slew of more remakes or an actual new game at some point is the big question.
