Fans in stitches after seeing how Darwin Nunez and Ibrahima Konate reacted to pitch invader

Fans are in stitches after seeing how Darwin Nunez and Ibrahima Konate reacted to a now hat-less pitch invader during Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Arsenal.

Two late goals sealed Liverpool’s place in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday evening as Mikel Arteta’s side paid the price for missing a number of huge opportunities.

After absorbing so much pressure, Jurgen Klopp’s men pounced on Arsenal’s lack of firepower in front of goal, when Jakub Kiwior headed into his own net from a Trent Alexander-Arnold free-kick.

Moments later, a pitch invader went over to celebrate with the likes of Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez.

And as the away support punched the air in delight, Nunez proceeded to slap the fan’s head not once, but multiple times, while embracing Alexander-Arnold.

As well as a sore head, the pitch invader may be feeling the cold chill on his way home this evening after defender Ibrahima Konate launched his hat into the stands.

“Absolutely creasing at Konate ripping that fans cap off and chucking it away,” said one fan, while another commented: “Nùñez absolutely battering the poor lad too.”

A third added: “This was the best moment of the game.”

Luis Diaz soon capped off an impressive second-half performance from Liverpool, when he smashed in a breakaway goal in the final minute of added time.

Shortly after the final whistle, Jurgen Klopp said Arsenal could have won it “without a doubt”, while a frustrated Mikel Arteta made his feelings known on who came out on top.

“Merit-wise, performance-wise, there is no question who deserved to win the game,” the Spaniard said.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher also reacted to the result, saying: “Winning today wasn’t my priority for the team, it was no injuries or replay, but once the game starts you can’t help but be desperate for the win.

“Huge result, but what could be pivotal for Liverpool…. it looks like the real Luis Diaz is back in these last two games.”

Liverpool will host Fulham on Wednesday night in the EFL Cup semi-final as title hopefuls Arsenal enjoy a much-needed rest. They come up against Crystal Palace on January 20.
