Former Panthers running back Mike Davis is signing a two-year deal with the division rival Falcons, according to a report by Ian Rapoport at NFL Network.

It’s worth $5.5 million with $3 million fully guaranteed in 2021.

Davis had a breakout season in 2020 for Carolina in the wake of Christian McCaffrey’s injuries, which forced him out of 13 games. He posted over 1,000 yards from scrimmage, eight touchdowns and was among the league leaders in forced missed tackle rate.

At this price, Davis was definitely worth bringing back.

The Panthers also missed out on Chris Carson, who they were apparently in talks with before he re-signed with the Seahawks.

The good news is there are still a few good running backs on the market, including Tevin Coleman, formerly of the Falcons and the 49ers. Duke Johnson, Todd Gurley, Leonard Fournette, Adrian Peterson and James White are also among the free agents who are worth considering.
