Over the past few months, the Atlanta Falcons have completely revamped their coaching staff around Arthur Smith, but the team isn’t yet done adding to it.

Jake Pfeil, who spent the last decade serving as the athletic trainer for the Florida State football program, will reportedly take over for Atlanta’s former director of sports medicine, Marty Lauzon, who was let go by the team back in March.

“The longtime FSU staff member was very well-liked and respected in the Seminoles’ athletics department and turned down overtures from other organizations in the past, including an offer to join Jimbo Fisher’s staff at Texas A&M in 2018,” writes Ira Schoffel, the managing editor at Warchant.com — a Rivals.com site dedicated to the Seminoles.

Pfeil previously interned with the Falcons over two decades ago, writes Schoffel:

“The Madison County, Fla., native held summer internships with the Falcons in 1999 and 2002 and was a ‘season assistant’ with the club in 2002. Pfeil’s wife, Cheryl, also is an FSU graduate and longtime member of the Seminoles’ athletics training staff.”

As we pointed out last week here at Falcons Wire, there are a few potential draft targets coming out of Florida State that could help Atlanta, including cornerback Asante Samuel Jr.
