The victory was Verstappen’s third in a row in Austin and 15th in 18 races so far this year, equalling with four to spare the record the Dutch 26-year-old set last year for most wins in a single season. Only four drivers before him had amassed 50 Grand Prix wins as the Red Bull driver continues to dominate. It was a much better day for Hamilton, however, and perhaps an earlier tire change would have allowed him to overtake the world champion late on and claim his first Grand Prix win since Jeddah in 2021.
