After an evenly matched first half Atalanta finally was able to get a real goal scoring opportunity in the second half and took full advantage. In the 60′ Atalanta used some probing passes around the box and at the right time found a cutting Josip Iličić who placed the ball perfectly into the back of the net. Then just four minutes later Atalanta doubled their lead over the English side with a Robin Gosens goal. Atalanta’s defense would hold for the final 26 minutes and they would steal a win from the host Liverpool and collect three big points in Group D action.
