Ex-SGPC Prez Bibi Jagir Kaur rejoins SAD

Chandigarh, Mar 14 (UNI) Former Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Bibi Jagir Kaur rejoined the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) here on Thursday.

Kaur pledged to work even more assiduously to strengthen the party.

She was welcomed into the SAD by its President Sukhbir Singh Badal at the sthan of Sant Prem Singh Murarewala.

Asserting that she was an Akali by birth, Bibi Jagir Kaur said “I was an Akali and will remain an Akali always”. She also asserted that she would continue to work in the religious sphere and do her best to strengthen the Shiromani Committee.

Speaking on the occasion, Sukhbir Singh Badal said “my relations with Bibi ji have always been that of a family member”. He said he had earlier also invited Bibi ji to rejoin the party with folded hand and he was thankful to her for acceding to his request.

Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal today received a short in the arm when noted Social worker and former Health official Dr Lakhbir Singh joined the party in the presence of SAD President in Jalandhar today.

Dr Lakhbir Singh had retired as District Health Officer after serving the department for 29 years.

Welcoming him into the party fold, Sukhbir Singh Badal said that he was pleased to learn that Dr Lakhbir’s contribution to society especially in the field of food safety, blood donation, anti-drug campaign and as a COVID warrior had been appreciated at various levels.

Mr Badal assured Mr Lakhbir Singh that he and his supporters would get due respect in the party and he was confident that he would prove to be an asset to the SAD.
