Ex-Giants QB Phil Simms’ home gym has a Peloton and … a sauna?

Phil Simms may be many things. Cheap he is not. At least when it comes to his home gym.

A two-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time Super Bowl champion for the New York Giants, Simms tweeted a video Tuesday in which he gives a tour of his home gym. And his workout room is pretty sweet. Among his equipment is a Peloton, which has soared in popularity during the coronavirus pandemic.

But one thing Simms skips over is what appears to be a sauna that he had installed. It can be seen in the video he tweeted. The sauna is in behind Simm, over his left shoulder and remains in frame for almost 30 seconds before the video pans to the right.

So what does it take to work out like a Super Bowl champion? Simms explains:

“Hi everybody, Phil Simms here. What we going to talk about today? We’re going to talk about exercising, what do I do? So I’m going to show you a few of things I do. I’m in the basement of my house. This is my gym. First off, I have a treadmill, where I like to walk on at least a couple of times a week for about 30 minutes, usually on the incline to get some good work. I have a life step machine, which is really good, works your lower body, work up a sweat.

“One of my favorite things that I do and use is this right here. It’s the Peloton bike. And of course, what I like it so much, riding the bike, but it gets to other people so you get a little competition in there to really get you going and make you work harder than you probably want to.

“And on this side of the gym, I have a lot of machines and weights to what, to resistance exercise, because I want to try to keep some muscle around my joints to overcome the fact that I played football for about 30 years. So that helps a lot.

“And as you can see on the wall, inspiration. That’s Muhammad Ali. I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. He’s from Louisville, Kentucky. I loved him.

“So what I’m saying to you guys: Find a place where you can work out, try to be consistent with it. What’s it do for you? It makes you healthier. It relieves stress and makes you feel better. Get in a routine, and once you get that routine down for a couple of weeks, trust me, you won’t to break it. So let’s stay healthy.”
