Rush Limbaugh has repeatedly referenced a sexist slur against Senator Kamala Harris and discussed an article about how she “brazenly slept her way” into politics on his radio show.
The right-wing host was talking about the recent firing of veteran NBA photographer Bill Baptist, who shared a meme on Facebook about the presumptive Democratic vice-presidential nominee under Joe Biden.
The image was of a mock campaign slogan reading: “Joe and the hoe.”
According to a transcript of his August 14 show, Limbaugh said: “[He] posted an image that read ‘Joe and the Hoe,’ h-o-e. Now, what do you think that’s about, Joe and the Hoe?
“Anyway, so he’s [Baptist] gone, ‘Joe and the Hoe.'” Limbaugh never condemns the sexist language before immediately going onto discuss an article that appeared in The American Spectator called: “Why It Should Matter to Women That Kamala Harris Slept Her Way Up.”

The article from the conservative site discussed Harris’ relationship from three decades ago with Willie Brown, a former speaker of the California Assembly and mayor of San Francisco.
During the segment, Limbaugh quotes part of the article which states: “It is no secret but public knowledge that Kamala Harris slept her way up into California political life by being a very public escort and mattress for California Democrat kingmaker Willie Brown.”
Limbaugh adds: “Now, some people read this story and said, ‘Mattress? Didn’t he mean mistress?’ No, I think, they meant mattress here.
“So we have two different stories here that are trading off the known fact that she was Willie Brown’s mattress, and that he has written about it and that he has talked about how it propelled her, that he ended up being one of her mentors.”
Limbaugh also quotes another part of the column by Dov Fischer saying Harris is not a woman who “rose the way that Americans teach their daughters to achieve.”
“It was not as simple as just being a mattress. Kamala Harris’ story denigrates women who worked hard all [their] life,” Fischer added.
This is not the first time Limbaugh has made disparaging or offensive remarks regarding Harris.
Earlier this month, Limbaugh discussed Brown’s suggestion that Harris refuse the VP position if offered it by Biden.
Quoting from an op-ed Brown wrote the San Francisco Examiner, Limbaugh said: “If Joe Biden offers [her] the vice presidential slot, my advice to her would be to politely decline. Harris is a tested and proven campaigner who will work her backside…
“And, by the way, if anybody knows her backside, it’s Willie Brown,” Limbaugh adds. “I mean in the biblical, intimate sense. He knows her backside. They’ve both acknowledged that she knows his, even though his backside is not as big as hers was.”
In July 2019, Limbaugh also questioned why Harris and former President Barack Obama are referred to as African Americans.
“Can somebody explain to me how Kamala Harris is an African American? Her father’s Jamaican and her mother is Indian. How does that equal African American?” Limbaugh said during a segment on his show.
“Same with Barack Obama. Obama’s not African American. He doesn’t have any history here… any of that stuff.”
Limbaugh also tried to claim that rep. Rashida Tlaib is not a “person of color” just because she Palestinian.
“That’d be like calling a Jewish person a person of color. How is Rashida Tlaib a person of color? She’s not. This is all about making them victims,” he said.
In January 2019, Limbaugh brought up Harris’ and Brown’s relationship again while comparing her to adult film star Stormy Daniels, who was paid $130,000 to keep her alleged affair with Donald Trump a secret ahead of his presidential campaign.
Limbaugh also hit back and the media hype Harris was receiving at the time during her campaign to be the next Democratic presidential nominee, which she eventually pulled out of.
“But I’m gonna just tell you, based on the stuff that my friends are sending me, there are a lot of people on our side scared to death of Kamala Harris,” Limbaugh said. “They are sending me things about Kamala Harris and telling me what they don’t like about her and what we ought to all be worried about.
“When somebody else announces and has a rally then they’ll go get big news, but it’s obvious the media right now is all into Kamala Harris.”
He later adds: “I’m sitting here, I’m trying to figure out what’s the difference between Stormy Daniels and Kamala Harris? Well, I mean, stop and think about it.
“What is the real difference? One difference is that she’s not trying to shut Willie Brown up.”
In April 2018, Limbaugh also criticized Harris for a joke she made on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Harris was asked “If you had to be stuck in an elevator with either President Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, or Jeff Sessions, who would it be?” to which she replied: “Does one of us have to come out alive?”
In response, Limbaugh said on his show: “So I guess this might open the doors for my own Hillary elevator joke, don’t you think? Tit-for-tat, so to speak.”
