Everything Jason Tindall said as he stood in for Eddie Howe at Newcastle United press conference

The transfer window is closed and now it’s all about what Newcastle United can achieve in the second part of the season. While they’ve not hit the heights of last term so far, for various reasons, the Magpies are still well placed for a strong few months.

The 3-1 win over Aston Villa rekindled hopes of a push for European places, with Luton, Nottingham Forest and AFC Bournemouth next up in the Premier League. Plus they have an FA Cup fifth-round tie at Blackburn Rovers to look forward to later this month, with a place in the quarter-finals up for grabs.

Of course the January transfer window passed without little action, Javier Manquillo the only noticeable exit, while young striker Alfie Harrison signed from Manchester City. It means Eddie Howe will desperately need some positive news on the injury front, and quickly. We’ll have updates on Alexander Isak, who limped off against Villa, Callum Wilson, Harvey Barnes, Joe Willock and Elliot Anderson.

Luton recorded a 1-0 victory over Newcastle just before Christmas, so United will be keen to set the record straight tomorrow. Stick with us for updates from Howe as they happen this morning.
