The deal to take Richarlison from Everton to Tottenham Hotspur is close to completion.

Everton have given Richarlison the green light to seal a move to Spurs after an agreement was reached on Wednesday. The ECHO understands the two clubs have agreed a £60million package for the 25-year-old, a small amount of which will be performance related.

For the Blues, a deal of that size will help ease some of their profit and sustainability issues with the Premier League, but will see them lose arguably their best player and most valuable asset, one that the club agreed to spend up to £50m on back in 2018 and one that was seen as a sign of things to come when he arrived from Watford.

Away from the Richarlison transfer, there remains the takeover talk in the background, with current owner Farhad Moshiri in discussions to sell the club to a US consortium fronted by former Manchester United and Chelsea CEO Peter Kenyon and funded by wealthy American real estate tycoon Maciek ‘MG’ Kaminski and mining and private investment magnate John Thornton.

The takeover bid, currently in a period of exclusivity, is likely to dominate the agenda for the Blues as they head into pre-season, with the US group understood to be looking to move things along swiftly and close the deal.
