Good evening, Everton fans. Here are your evening headlines for Saturday, October 24.

Ancelotti makes Iwobi claim

Carlo Ancelotti is adamant Alex Iwobi can provide a goal threat from the left-hand side of Everton’s front three.

Iwobi, 24, joined the Blues from Arsenal and has struggled to find consistency since relocating to Goodison Park.

He is set to replace the suspended Richarlison in the Everton starting line-up against Southampton on Sunday.

“He has quality, he is a strong player physically, he has the ability in front,” Ancelotti said when asked why he likes Iwobi.

“He did well when he played against Brighton, he gave an assist to James (Rodriguez) to score. He didn’t play a lot, but he played in the cup, he scored goals. I have total confidence with him.

“We also have to consider we have Gordon and we have Bernard in that position who can replace Richarlison, with different quality but I have confidence in all of them.”

Unsworth makes ‘tough’ Everton loan claim but holds January optimism

David Unsworth has acknowledged the club struggled to find loan deals for several players this summer.

The Blues were keen to send out a number of their squad members in a bid to get them regular playing time, but the end of the transfer window saw Matthew Pennington, Beni Baningime and Nathan Broadhead remain at Goodison Park.

“A lot of teams have found, certainly in this current climate with coronavirus, there just isn’t the resources out there to take a gamble on a loan,” the u-23 manager told the ECHO .

“We found it tough to loan our players, and over the period really it’s never really been easy to loan young players. The turnover of managers at League One and Championship makes it [difficult].

“Hopefully in January these boys will go out on loan. We want them to go out on loan. The club, Marcel, myself, it’s not easy to loan young players but we will give them the platform [in the u-23s] to try and impress every week.”

Romero demanding United talks after Everton transfer was scuppered

Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero is keen to speak with Ed Woodward after a move to Everton was scuppered, according to the Daily Star.

Romero, 33, joined the Reds from Sampdoria in 2015 and has been a reliable back-up goalkeeper at Old Trafford ever since.

The emergence of Dean Henderson into the first-team pushed, however, Romero down the pecking order and the Argentine was keen to leave Old Trafford in the summer.

He was said to be close to joining Everton during the transfer window and now the goalkeeper is demanding talks with Woodward after the promise of a move was broken.
