Essendon ‘are set to appoint Brad Scott as their next head coach’, but fans are NOT happy

Essendon are reportedly on the verge of ending their search for a new coach, with Brad Scott expected to be appointed imminently.
The Bombers have undertaken a lengthy process to find a replacement for Ben Rutten, who left the club at the end of the home and away season after an underwhelming campaign at the helm.
Melbourne assistant Adam Yze has long been the frontrunner for the post, with Bombers legend James Hird also an outside chance of making a sensational return to the club.

However, the Herald Sun reports that Essendon have turned to former North Melbourne coach and current AFL football operations boss Scott, who is expected to be announced later this evening.
Scott held a mixed record with the Kangaroos, leading the club to two preliminary finals over his nine-and-a-half-year spell, before parting ways in 2019 with one year left on his deal.
He has since overseen sweeping changes to the rules of the game which have divided opinion among fans, particularly at the start of the season where the AFL clamped down on umpire dissent.
Some supporters joked that the club appointed the wrong Scott bother (above: Chris Scott)
Fans took to Twitter to mock the Bombers ahead of the club’s expected announcement tonight
And AFL fans have mocked the Bombers for what they view as a ‘horrible decision’ with many joking that they have hired the wrong Scott brother – with Brad’s sibling, Chris, having just won a premiership with Geelong.
‘Horrible decision. It’s like they want to finish bottom 4 for the next 3-4 years,’ one fan posted on Twitter.
‘Can I get a refund for my membership,’ one Essendon fan wrote. ‘I’m out…’
‘They realise it’s Brad and not Chris yeah?’ another posted. ‘Knowing Essendon they will think they hired Chris,’ a fourth quipped.
‘Omg Essendon butchering it again. Love this.’
