England vs USA: Harry Maguire heckled by American during match
Maguire #Maguire
An American fan could be heard shouting abuse at England’s Harry Maguire throughout the first half of the World Cup clash.
It was a nervy Group B clash at the Al Bayt Stadium.
In fact, the USA probably edged the opening 45 minutes.

And despite the stadium being largely full of England fans, you could often heard one American voice above them all during the TV coverage.
And that American appeared to have a bit of a problem with Maguire.
The Manchester United was partnering John Stones in a back four and even showed off some fancy footwork on the left wing for England early on.
But he was also victim to some rather cruel heckling by a USA supporter.
This supporter, presumably sitting right near a pitchside microphone, could be heard shouting at Maguire every time he went near the ball.
His insults included:

Maguire was actually making his 50th appearance for England against the USA.
Agbonlahor: Maguire criticism has gone too far
Earlier this year, he was booed by England fans during a friendly against Ivory Coast in March.
And talkSPORT pundit, Gabriel Agbonlahor, believes the criticism has gone too far.
“The thing for me with Harry Maguire is that he has been poor for Manchester United in certain games, you can’t argue with that fact,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.
“But when you’re going away pre-season, I think they went to America or Australia or somewhere, and you’ve got fans in the stadium booing you, that’s too far. That’s just people looking at social media and being sheep.
“Harry Maguire’s had some poor games but he’s had some decent games for England, he’s not let England down. Get behind him. I’m sure people out there, pundits, media fans, would have wanted Harry Maguire to have a shocker of a game against Iran.
“He had a commanding game. Yes, he could have done better for the goal, switched off.
“But get behind him, get behind the players, don’t have one player that you pick on and want him to do badly. If he’s had a bad game, you can be critical.
“But people go too far with Harry Maguire. I know for a good four, five, six months he’s not been at his best and people have gone too far with it.
“When he’s playing for your country and you know you need to give players that confidence in games, why are you hoping that he has a bad game against Iran?”
