England resume their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign when they welcome Malta to Wembley on Friday night. The Three Lions secured their place at next year’s tournament with a 3-1 home win over Italy last month. That victory against the Euro 2020 winners also sealed top spot in Group C for England with two games to spare.
As such, Gareth Southgate may take the opportunity to experiment a little with his squad when England meet Malta in their penultimate qualifier on Friday night. Unsurprisingly, minnows Malta have been the whipping boys of the section, losing each of their seven matches to date.

England vs Malta Prediction
England ran out comfortable 4-0 winners in June’s reverse fixture and another stroll to victory should be on the cards at Wembley on Friday night. While the Three Lions have already booked their ticket to Euro 2024, Southgate is unlikely to stand for any complacency from his players in their remaining two qualifiers.
What’s more, this match with Malta will be one of the few remaining opportunities for certain members of the England squad to stake a claim for a seat on the plane to next summer’s showpiece. Given the embarrassment of riches that Southgate has at his disposal, even a much-changed Three Lions starting XI should be capable of winning with room to spare against rock-bottom Malta.
Michele Marcolini’s men have failed to pick up a single point from their seven Group C outings and will arrive in the English capital having lost each of their last 16 European qualifiers. The Reds were on the wrong end of a 4-0 reverse in Italy last month and star-studded England should inflict another heavy defeat on one of international football’s perennial strugglers.
