Stacey Solomon reacts to supportive messages from followers

Stacey Solomon was left in tears as she celebrated her second eldest son advancing from primary school.

The 33-year-old Loose Women star is a proud mum of five – sharing sons, Zachary, 15 and Leighton, 11, with two different ex-boyfriends and she shares son Rex, four, daughter Rose, one, and five-month-old Belle with her husband Joe Swash.

On Monday, Stacey shone a spotlight on Leighton – whose father is decorating company director Aaron Barnham whom the TV star was engaged to in 2011 but split from in 2014.

Taking to social media at the start of the week, the former X Factor contestant explained that she was delighted to see her son graduating from primary school.

She shared a photo of herself beaming alongside Leighton – while her youngest son Rex patiently stood beside them.

Stacey captioned the family moment, writing: “The face of a proud 11 year old, an over emotional mother and a 4 year old who is well and truly ready for the church service to end.”

And Stacey later told fans: “That was so emotional, it’s going to be an emotional week.”

Stacey and husband Joe, 41, have six children between them as the ex-EastEnders actor also has a 16-year-old son named Harry from a previously relationship.

Joe has previously gushed over the ‘blended’ family he and Stacey are raising together.

He said: “I treat all the boys exactly the same. I think that’s the only way you can do it.

“You know, I love Stacey’s boys. I love my boys. I hate saying it like that because by saying that there’s a separation. I’m really honoured to be able to say I am their stepdad.

“So when I met Stacey, Leighton was only three, And Zach was only, I think he was only seven or eight and you know, I’ve been in their lives longer than I haven’t been in their lives. And I love that.”

And Stacey too has discussed the triumphs – and trials – of raising the group of children under one roof.

She said: “The blended family situation has been a rocky road. That has never been easy.

“We have always had to work really hard to make sure everyone feels secure.”

She told a podcast that she realised the children were all getting along well when the boys gave touching speeches at her and Joe’s 2022 wedding.

She recalled: “It was so funny we didn’t say to the boys you need to do a speech.

“Joe was an emotional mess the whole day. People coming up to me saying ‘Joe is a mess down there’.

“As I walked down the aisle he was already sobbing but I thought I’ll be fine the whole day then as soon as the boys went ‘we want to say something’ I could not hold it in.

“They never say anything! Especially teenage boys. They don’t ever tell you how they feel or what they think about anything so it was really emotional to hear what they have to say.”
