Emmerdale’s Ellis Chapman faces a heartbreaking rejection from Priya Kotecha

Emmerdale’s Ellis Chapman was left red-faced in tonight’s (April 22) scenes opposite Priya Kotecha.

It all began with a bag of sweets, which Ellis mistakenly believed were gifted to him by Priya, but they’d actually come from his stepsister April Windsor on Cathy Hope’s behalf.

Spotting her outside The Woolpack, he confidently referred to this ‘gift’ in the hope of possibly landing a date with Priya – the two had a one-night stand a few weeks ago, but her romantic past with Al Chapman destroyed any chance of it going any further.

Confused by this, Priya went on to say she didn’t have a clue what Ellis was talking about, before a nearby April confessed she’d caused the embarrassing situation.

As the awkwardness stretched on, Priya hinted that she’s not quite over Al yet (she dumped him after finding out he cheated on her with Debbie Dingle) and that it’s probably best for her and Ellis to keep their distance.

Happy enough to live in the friend zone, Ellis suggested they simply stay mates, but she wasn’t even interested in that.

As it turned out, Priya’s settled on a professional relationship with him and nothing more.

Is this really the end, but it’s even properly begun?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
