  • Elon Musk has lashed out at Sen. Elizabeth Warren after she wrote a letter to Tesla’s board expressing concerns about Musk’s new role at Twitter.

Responding to a Twitter user who posted about the senator’s letter, Musk said: “The United States has definitely been harmed by having her as a senator lol.”

On Sunday, Warren wrote to Tesla’s board saying Musk’s Twitter takeover had “raised questions about possible violations of securities or other laws.”

In her letter, she said these possible violations included “whether Mr. Musk is funneling Tesla resources into Twitter, a potentially ‘improper diversion of resources that might impact Tesla’s sales and earnings’ and could result in ‘delays in programs at Tesla.'”

Tesla has faced a knock-on effect from Musk’s preoccupation with Twitter.

The EV company’s stock has plummeted over 50% this year, although shares of the company did bounce back slightly after Musk floated the possibility of stepping down as CEO of Twitter in a poll.

Despite poll users voting in favor of Musk’s resignation and the billionaire previously promising he’d abide by the results, he has not stepped down.

Instead, he responded to a Twitter user who said only Blue subscribers should be able to vote in policy related polls. Musk said: “Good point. Twitter will make that change.”

Warren has been a longtime critic of the Tesla boss and the two have feuded for some time. The billionaire once labeled her “Senator Karen” after she called him out for reportedly not paying federal income tax in 2018.

In April, Warren took issue with Musk’s original deal to buy Twitter. She labeled the deal “dangerous for our democracy” in a tweet.

Representatives for Warren and Musk did not immediately respond to requests for comment made outside normal working hours.
