Elon Musk Booed on Stage With Dave Chappelle: ‘Weren’t Expecting This’

Elon Musk reportedly received a chorus of booing from the audience at comedian Dave Chappelle’s show on Sunday.

Chappelle performed at a special Punchline Comedy Club event on December 11 in San Francisco where he invited the Tesla CEO on to the stage.

Apparently the majority of the crowd at the Chase Center was less than impressed to see Musk—who controversially bought Twitter for $44 billion in October and then fired thousands of its staff—on stage and started booing him.

One Twitter user shared a video of the moment Chappelle introduced Musk who seemed to be met with a mix of boos and cheers.

“Dave chappelle brought up Elon musk up on stage at the chase center. Had to pry the yonder for this ahaha pt 1,” wrote Twitter user, @CleoPat48937885.

Musk said to Chapelle onstage: “Weren’t expecting this were you?” to which Chapelle replied, “it sounds like some of them people you fired are in the audience.”

Chappelle then addressed those booing saying, “wait, wait, those of you booing… I’m just pointing out they have terrible seats.”

Speaking of Musk, he said, “this n**** not even trying to die on earth. His whole business model is f*** earth, I’m leaving anyway.”

The SpaceX founder has said he wants to reduce the cost of space transportation through his company to allow humans to colonize Mars.

Chappelle joked the reason he invited Musk on stage was to make sure didn’t “miss this opportunity,” because “the first comedy club on Mars, that should be mine.”

The comedian then lashed out at the audience again.

“Do you hear that sound Elon? That’s the sound of pending civil unrest. I can’t wait to see what story you decimate next motherf*****,” Chappelle said.

“You shut the f*** up with your boos. There’s something better you can do. Booing is not the best thing you can do. I wish everybody in this audience peace.”

Another Twitter user described Musk’s appearance as “off vibe” and “entitled.”

“Was at the Dave Chapelle show at SF tonight and who comes on but Elon Musk!” wrote Sudowrite founder, James Yu, on Twitter.

“A good 80 percent of the stadium boos. 18k people. and he withers. Like absolutely turns into a corncob.”

According to Yu, Musk responded to the boos with “what should I say??” as Chappelle tried to “salvage the situation but to no avail.”

The writer continued: “I can’t believe he came on and did that. No value at all. ‘And here is the worlds richest man’ Dave introduced him.

“Totally came off entitled. Dave gave him so many chances to speak but he just put his hands in his pockets.”

Yu observed: “My only read is that he thought it would be a layup. Ppl feeling good after chapelle set. SF home turf. But Dave is like a 99.99 percent percentile stage presence. Impossible to not look bad in that situation in comparison.”

“Obv easy to armchair play afterwards, but at least say something,” Yu wrote, finishing up the Twitter thread, and added, “‘Thanks. Now pay me $8’ and mic drop would have gotten a laugh. He did mumble something about being in a simulation, but felt totally off vibe for the crowd.”
