Elk Grove Village Buys 3 Buildings On Turner Avenue

Elk Grove Village trustees approved the purchase of three buildings along Turner Avenue, which runs between Devon Avenue and Arlington Heights Road, at Tuesday’s (Dec. 12) village board meeting.
The three buildings at 25, 60, and 70 Turner sit on either side of the road and are near the former Elk Grove Bank & Trust and Enclave at O’Hare building also on Turner which the village also owns.
The larger building which includes Munchies Pizza, a hair salon, a liquor store, and a real estate office was sold to the village for $700,000. The village also purchased two smaller buildings across the street on Turner together for $350,000, Mayor Craig Johnson said.
Johnson said there are no immediate plans for development, but when properties become available at a reasonable price the village is inclined to purchase them. A village agenda said the property could be used for potential redevelopment.
Similar to Arlington Heights and Higgins roads, a northern gateway to the village, which the village is working with Wingspan to redevelop, the corner of Arlington Heights Road and Devon Avenue is a similar southern gateway to the village.
