Eid-Ul-Fitr 2023: Kolkata Traffic Police Announce Restrictions on More Than 80 Roads; Details

Kolkata: The Kolkata Traffic police have issued a detailed notification in connection with Eid-Ul-Fitr celebrations in the city on Saturday, April 22. The Shawwal Crescent Moon was sighted in Kolkata on Friday hence, Eid will be celebrated tomorrow.

All classes of vehicles and all kinds of traffic including pedestrian traffic shall be regulated.

A) 1) Movements of all types of goods vehicles (except LPG Vehicles, Vegetable, Fruits & Milk carrying vehicles), shall be restricted within the city of Kolkata (Kolkata Police jurisdiction) from 04.00 hrs to 12.00 hrs on Saturday.

2) Goods vehicles for Kolkata Dock System will not be allowed to entry from 04.00 hrs till 12.00 hrs on April 22.

B) Entire Red Road will be closed for all types of vehicular traffic from 22.00 hrs on 21.04.2023 (previous night of the congregation prayer day) till 12.00 hrs on 22.04.2023 or till the end of the programme.

C) Vehicles of all descriptions including Tram Cars will be temporarily suspended or diverted from the following roads and approaches from 04.00 hrs to 12.00 hrs according to the direction of traffic police on duty on Saturday.

3) Gas Street.

4) RG Kar Road.

5) APC Roy Road between Girish Bidyaratna Lane and Kali Shome Street.

6) APC Roy Road between M G Road and Manicktala crossing.

D) As the Bus Stand at Esplanade Complex will in no way be disturbed, the temporary removal will not be necessary. Entry will be via New Road, Dufferin Road and Exit will be via R R Avenue/ Tram track etc, to avoid conflict between pedestrians and buses.

E) Movement of Tram Cars on Lenin Sarani and Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road will be temporarily suspended from 04.00 hrs to 12.00 hrs or as and when considered necessary on the day (22.04.2023). F) Vehicular traffic may also be diverted from any of the arterial and / or feeder roads by the
