Edgar Wright’s horror-thriller “Last Night in Soho” released a hair-raising trailer, set for release on Oct. 22.

The London-set psychological thriller stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Thomasin McKenzie and Matt Smith. Wright directed “Last Night in Soho” from a script he co-penned with “Penny Dreadful” writer Krysty Wilson-Cairns.

The mind-bending flick will follow the twists and turns that arise when innocent, up-and-coming fashionista Eloise (McKenzie) is able to reach back in time and meet her idol, a dazzling singer named Sandy (Taylor-Joy), in the 1960s.

The film will include a time-travel component, which Wright alluded to in a tweet: “Haunted by someone else’s past, but we’ll see you in the future.”

The Focus Features project is produced by Nira Park, Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner and Wright. Focus Features and Film4 co-financed the film. Universal Pictures International will release it internationally.

Wright’s directing credits include “Shaun of the Dead,” “Hot Fuzz,” cult classic “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,” “The World’s End” and the Sony blockbuster “Baby Driver.” Taylor-Joy’s credits include Netflix’s smash hit “The Queen’s Gambit,” “The Witch,” “Split” and its sequel “Glass.” McKenzie broke out onto the scene with her starring role in Taika Waititi’s “Jojo Rabbit.”

In an interview with Empire, Wright said he initially thought of Taylor-Joy for the role of Eloise, but changed his mind after seeing her embody a similar character — “an innocent girl who gets thrown into a situation” — in “Split.” As for McKenzie, the director said, “She’s great [in ‘Last Night In Soho.’] She’s so young and fragile that the film is going to be twice as scary.”
