Eaton County fugitive Jamel Bomar arrested after escaping from hospital

UPDATE: (6:59 5/31/2021): Bomar is back in custody, the Eaton County Sheriff’s Office has announced on Facebook.
He was arrested after a pursuit in Benton Twp, the post said.
EATON COUNTY, Mich. (WLNS)—The Eaton County Sheriff’s Office is searching for Jamel Bomar a man who escaped custody on foot from Sparrow Eaton Hospital.
Bomar has a beard and is 36-years-old.
He fled on foot after an emergency medical visit.
The Eaton County Sheriff’s Office says Bomar will be headed north towards Lansing and is asking anyone between Charlotte and Lansing to call if they see the suspect.
The Eaton County Sheriff’s Office believes Bomar could be searching for transportation by car, and are asking the community to keep their car doors locked and say they don’t know if he’s carrying a weapon.
Bomar has a fresh wound to his neck and chest area that was self-inflicted. Authorities also told 6 News that helicopters and K-9’s are searching for the suspect in the area.
